My buddy is wanting to spray his but its only been planted since February. He said it was 4-8" tall and some had headed out some not yet. I just didn't want him to kill it. Would he be ok to spray it?

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

I would think so, but best to spray it the day before a high chance of rain. I've learned my lesson spraying clover that was stressed due to unpredictable drought. Killed it dead. Clover is resistant to some herbicides and somewhat resistant to drought depending upon species, but it can't handle both at the same time.

Spray it with what, Clethodim? A broadleaf herbicide?

Not too soon to spray it with Clethodim using mine that I planted in April as a gauge. I sprayed it about a week ago and it was doing fine until I sprayed it with 2,4-DB or Butyrac 200 a few days later. Now it's curled over and it's head it touching the ground. It may recover and it may not. Upside is that the pigweed and amaranth that I sprayed it for are toast.

That's exactly what I was talking about Fur. If we get some rain soon you may be okay.

Secondly, what type of clover is it? 2,4 DB is not safe on all clover. I've seen it kill arrowleaf clover dead as a hammer. You'll note that if you read the label on 2,4 DB that it does not say that it's safe for use on clover but it is safe for other legumes. Your best bet is a variety of white clover like Durana. That stuff can survive most anything, including glyphosate.

It is labelled for use on Alfalfa and I sprayed it on White Sweet Clover which is closely related to Alfalfa. There is no product that I can find that mentions White Sweet Clover on the label. I don't think there's enough of it planted to justify the labelling, or it's typically grown for sileage and not commonly sprayed.

Yes, Durana and most Ladinos are hard to kill. As you said Glyphosate won't phase it.

I planted mine for bees, not deer. I've read it can produce 1200lbs of honey per acre. Mine's looking like it will produce 0000 lbs per acre but it may recover. I've seen legumes recover before that got in a twist before when sprayed with DB. This may too. Mine was not drought stressed when sprayed. It was getting dry, but definitely not stressed from it yet. No wilting in the afternoons. After last night, it sure won't be anythingremotelystressed from dry.

I'm an all or nothing kind of guy. I should have done a test strip but seeing 1000's of amaranth and pigweed seedlings per acre will make a guy to desparate things.
