First baseball championship in school history. Beat Piedmont in 1st game yesterday 9-0 and beat them in the second game today 9-2. Congrats to those young men! That isn't the first. My high school coach came from Gordo and they won a championship when he was the head coach in the mid 1980s. . I don't think they may have been 1a back then. They also won 3 championships as a 2a team.

I think you are right, Scott. Below copied from WikipediA: Athletics GHS is rich in tradition of athletic success. The Greenwave participate in football, baseball, wrestling, softball, and boys and girls basketball. In total, Gordo is a seven-time state champion. The football team garnered championships in 2A in 1968, 1980, and 2001 with a 3A championship in 1985. The baseball team won back-to-back 2A championships coming in 2002-03 and just recently won a state title in 3A coming in 2011. Nevertheless, No doubt that they are the Champs in 2017!

I read another article today about Gordo's 2017 State Championship, from a different source, of course. The article that I read today stated that this was Gordo's fourth state championship in baseball. My apologies for stating something in my original post that I had read without checking up on it.
