Trlrdave you should try it again, I had a recipe for a chicken rub using cocoa powder, I need to hunt around and find it, I got the idea of using it on butts from it...

The end of democracy and the defeat of the American revolution will occur when government falls into the hands of lending institutions and moneyed incorporation's Thomas Jefferson. 1812

I use it in my chili, but never thought about using it in a butt rub, but I will in the next batch I make up for damn sure.

I use white and brown sugar in my dry rub. I can't say who, but I have a buddy that competes all over the country and he uses my dry rub and has enough trophies to fill up a house. Funny thing, he had never even grilled before and we had them over on the 4th one year and I had cooked ribs and butts and he became obsessed with it after that. He has actually been on several TV shows that focus on grilling techniques and such. I still tell him I could kick his a$$ any day in grilling competition.
