The NCAA has approved the early signing dates for college football:

I'm not very excited about it, but I guess it will work out.

What's not to love about it? Great idea IMO.

I concur.

The hype of all these HS recruits and the media circus that surrounds it needs to calm down. I think this is a good way to start alleviating some of that.

It'll hurt a bunch of mid-skill/lower rated kids in the sense that some will miss out on going to a big school. Lot of those type kids are picked up by the big D1s on signing day or the day before signing day when the 4-5 stars they were counting on start flipping. With early signing, the kids "on the bubble" will have to take what they have in hand or risk not getting to go anywhere.

This is not necessarily a bad thing. If this happens the kids will end up at a school better suited to their skill level. If they are truly good enough to have NFL talent, the League will find them.

The only losers here are all the recruiting hype websites that have gone way to far over dramatizing where kids are going to college and how many stars they have assigned to them. A lot of that drama, hype, and choosing hats will fall by the wayside now.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I think Alabama had 17 early entry players last year so this wouldn't be much different.

Bama's a different animal all together. Bama doesn't have to recruit like other schools. King Saban simply holds interviews of prospective players and then hand picks who he wants every year. :-)
