There is a place for such a club. As the only one who hunts in my family, I would like it. When they advertise family friendly, it sounds nice but what exactly does that mean. I've seen as many as 4 family members hunting under one membership. I like the concept. You can take your 12 year old son or daughter and sit with them when they kill their first deer.

"Family friendly" for me is a huge red flag. Sit with your kid if it's so important that he hunt.

Why could you not take your son/daughter/spouse with you,but just take one gun? The way the rule is written for us,any deer taken comes out of the 1 membership quota, which is 3 bucks and 4 does. I don't know of 1 family that consumes more than 7 deer a year in their household. It's worked well for us. If you want to take guests or have your child/spouse sit alone, purchase 2 memberships Disregard the question. I misread your statement.

That's the beauty of having private clubs, make your own rules. At this point, I would never join a club like that. My kids are young and hunt with me so it wouldn't really effect me but I don't want to hunt around people with that mindset at this point in my life. I would rather see people bringing more people into the hunting lifestyle and others not be jealous or critical of what is killed. I see the other side of it as well but it's not for me right now. good point

I know the guy with 6 kids and a wife that hunts would be pissed, but I'm not sure how a single bachelor should have to subsidize that other guy's kids' hunting. I agree. Using state game law it would not be fair to allow a family of 5 who hunted a club under one membership to all to take 3 bucks each a year for a total of 15 bucks when a single person only could take 3 but paid the same dues in as the family guy. About the only fair way to do it would be to say just for example your membership gets X amount of deer. lets just say its 2 buck, 2 doe per season per membership. If your 2 kids each kill a doe, you are out of does. If uncle charlie comes as your guest and he kills a buck, it counts as one of your bucks & leaves you with one buck. You could let whoever ya wanted shoot, it just comes off your memberships total.

It seems like it would be so easy to have a rule "One membership, one gun"
That way you can bring a son or a guest anytime you want, but there's only one guy hunting.
Thoughts? Not a club I'd ever want to be a part of. Dr. B

Hey man, you don't have to apologize or ask permission for any rule. I know... you're just asking thoughts.
Anyway, you can make any rule your want and if you fill up the club spots, then you're fine.
You can make a rule where your members have to be female and at least a C cup. It's your club
Besides, I love limited guests and a member can't expect for his or her entire family to hunt for the same price.
If I were single and no kids, I'd join.

Our club has rule one guest per member per day and anything killed goes against the members allowed kills. Each member has 3 bucks and 5 turkeys, guest kills one of either then that's subtracted off the members numbers. Not a perfect system but works for us. All is on honor system but it's pretty tough with our group to slip one by.
Finally deported myself from the peoples republik of Kaliforkistan.
