I feel sorry for the poor guy who follows in those footsteps. There ain't but one way to go, and a lunatic fan base that expects nothing less The next Bama coach will be homegrown Dabo Swinney. That is if he continues to win. You heard it here first. if you think you are the first person to say that, you need to get out more. I think he's a lifer at Clemson

I feel sorry for the poor guy who follows in those footsteps. There ain't but one way to go, and a lunatic fan base that expects nothing less lunatic fan base. That's a pretty broad brush there. I'm a lot of things - including a Bama fan - but a lunatic ain't one of them, I can assure you of that.

Meanwhile tuition costs keep going up there because they say they need more money. If tuition is based on football performance then students paying to attend Auburn aren't paying much.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Tuition has nothing to do with football salaries.
Good for Saban. He's arguably the best coach and/or among the top 3-5 and should be paid as such.
ANY business that wants to attract, hire and keep top talent should be willing to pay for it and invest in them and facilities. Those who don't will be second-tier. Doesn't matter if it's a TinyTown business or Alabama football.
I always shake my head at folks who bitch about paying salaries and benefits to employees and then wonder why they can't attract and keep the best.

Something else you Bammers can be proud of, they cut the Million Dollar Band out of the football budget too so they have to raise their own money. And?????

I can _itch as I've am/have had to pay tuition at both universities. Good, they suck and have for years. Wish we'd charge them for the wasted ticket they're sitting in

The band can and should have to raise its own money.
Athletic teams don't need bands, or cheerleaders for that matter. When you have a 40gazillion-light blaring JumboGigantoTRON showing the game, playing music, doing pre-post game intros and info, along with fans going to the concession stand or bathroom or looking at phones during halftime, there's honestly no need for bands or their expense.
As fine as the state's bands are -- AU, UA, JSU, Troy, others -- I've never been to a football game to watch or listen to a band. I enjoy hearing LSU on a Saturday night and UGA and AU and the MDB when I'm there, but it ain't why I'm there.
And I was in the high school band for a year before playing football for three, so I know about expenses, travel, fundraising, being snubbed, practicing hard to learn the routines/steps and music and making sure we put on a good show. We were proud of how we played, performed and whatnot. Won awards for the field performance and also symphonic band.
In the end, though, it wasn't about us and NEVER is about the band. It's about the football team and their game, period. Nothing else.
So, when the band starts whining about money and football raking it in and whatnot, the band isn't part of the athletic department. It's part of the music department that gets invited to participate at the games. Raise your own money, donations and whatnot.
And I'd tell the opposing teams to leave their bands at home.

And I'd tell the opposing teams to leave their bands at home. I think you missed the point. The subject was Saban's extension and pay. Where is Alabama's football program when the oppositions comeback is "Yea, but tuition is high" and "the band has to pay its own way?" Actually Clem, I know you didn't miss the point. I have never been to an Alabama game and only 1 or 2 Auburn games. I read this for some laughs from both sides but some are really taking this football stuff serious and are truly bothered by the other school. Whom ever is on top seems to be bothered less and right now Alabama is on top not only in state but all of college football. At one point, people where digging deep for shots at Spurrier and Florida.
