I've lost just under 40 lbs in 3 months doing strict keto, started on inauguration day. Keeping net carbs to less than 20 net a day. Macros are 70/25/5 fat protein carb.
I feel great, acid reflux is rare rather than an everyday occurence. Hoping to get to the point I'm off BP meds.
Understand, that if you go back to a carb heavy diet you will gain it all back plus more.

Good luck. Great way to drop weight. Realize that at some point you will plateau. There are ways to continue to shed at that point but i was happy there. I have gone back to eating a few carbs most days and I've maintained the same weight. Almonds, macadamia nuts were a huge help.

I lost 75 pounds in about 8 months on this diet with no exercise at all. I would highly recommend this diet if you are obese, have high blood pressure, diabetes, or any other similar condition. I'm 26 years old and when the Doc said I had high BP, I decided to make a change. The downside to this diet is that is extremely strict, and it only works without cheating in my own experience. Cheating on this diet can set you back days, if not weeks depending on how well your body switches between glucose/ketones. With that being said this diet is not sustainable for the average person. For that reason I would not suggest this diet if you are just wanting to trim down for summer or lose some belly fat. I have since gained back 25lbs because I tried to go back to eating a regular diet with no exercise, along with the immediate water weight gain after returning to carbs.
Good information from Dr. Jeff Vogel on the keto diet, he works with high endurance athletes to see if the diet will work for them.
Also Ruled.Me is great website for recipes.
Good luck. PM me if you have any questions.

Cutting carbs out of my diet all but eliminated my acid reflux. The only time I have it now is when I eat carbs.

Understand, that if you go back to a carb heavy diet you will gain it all back plus more. So you are running 70% fat and 25% protein? How many calories are you taking in per day?

I usually average about 1400 give or take. Haven't been over 1900. I track everything with My Fitness Pal and come pretty close to 70/25/5 each day. Its easy to go way over on protein. But a cup of Bullet Proof Coffee will get the fat numbers up. I also keep MCT soft gels and coconut oil available. Even cutting calories way back I do not have intense, I gotta eat right now, cravings.

You should be able to eat 1800-1900 per day and consistently lose weight still. I know what you mean about not having cravings when calories are that low. I've never seen macros like that but can understand why you don't have cravings with that kind of fat intake. I fell off the wagon for the past 9 months while I got my testosterone leveled out but I'm going back to 40/40/20 to lean back out.

I've lost around 48 pounds over the last 6 months on a low carb diet. It has not been a strict "keto" diet just eliminating all sugar, bread, rice etc and being cautious on other carb sources. I've also begun running around 3 times per week. Over the last month I've started back in the weight room which has stalled weight loss, but I'm not concerned since I know it's just muscle canceling out the fat loss.
I will say that I went on vacation with my wife for 4 days and ate "normally", meaning included carbs like pizza, rolls with dinner etc. I gained 6 POUNDS over my weigh in 4 days prior. I know it's mostly water weight, but good grief how discouraging. So, be aware how easily your gains can be destroyed using this method. Right now I'm trying to figure out a sustainable diet going forward that I can stick with and that won't cause me to gain the weight back.

I've never gone keto/low carb simply because of the way that your body adjusts when you introduce them back. Implementing healthy habits is what worked for me. Do not, I repeat...DO NOT use the scale as a judge. I can assure you that you weren't replacing fat with muscle that fast unless you had a surplus of calories or did some seriously intentional meal timing. I've added 8-10lbs from a night of drinking but it was just water weight. The mirror and the measuring tape are much better indicators of progress.

Big congrats to you guys that are losing weight and changing your lifestyle! Just make sure you at eating a diet that you can sustain. I started last June 1st at 237 and lost almost all my weight by November. All I did was count calories and avoid sugar. That meant giving up sweet tea. I've kept my weight off and am currently at 188lbs.

I plugged my data and weight loss goals into the calculator at If It Fits Your Macros. Once I get closer to my goal I'll up carbs to less than 40 Net and add that 5% carbs substituting for fat. I'll use low carb wraps to substitute for bread and add a few more veggies to my metals. Always avoid drinking cal9ries.
