Age of earth spin off thread...All seemed fine around 5pm, so what happened to get it deleted since then?
Did it get ugly? Or did a moderator decide they didn't like the topic being discussed?

Age of earth spin off thread...All seemed fine around 5pm, so what happened to get it deleted since then? Noticed the flat earth thread is missing too.
Did it get ugly? Or did a moderator decide they didn't like the topic being discussed? ALDEER Triangle. Many-a-thread be sunk there.

One of two things probably happened:
1. Discussion turned ugly so a moderator shut it down.
Or
2. Certain biblical arguments or opinions ruffled feathers so the censor hammer was swung.
I've seen both happen over the past 12 years.
Owners and moderators get full control as they should, no arguments, just curious why.

I thought it was a good, civil discussion on something that none of us are going to know the definitive answer, but it was interesting debate.

Sex, religion, and politics - the trifecta of dissonance, the three subjects that determine why we exist, what we believe, and how we organize our society. Sex is human - without it there would be no life. It is essential for for humankind's continued existence. Deviation of heterosexual norms (and deviants thereof) threaten our basic life as humans. Religion is what we choose to believe that gets us through life and to to a postmortem existence for eternity. Around this belief we create a social construct of people who share this life and post mortal existence. To accept that another religion "might" have merit shows a fissure in your belief. Too many fissures and there is a structural collapse. That cannot be accepted by many. And politics - the societal organization that provides stability, security, prosperity, and constructs a culturally acceptable means from the cradle to the grave. As with religion, if another culture might be right then ours might be wrong. Not acceptable. I said all that just to say this - arguments, discussions, fights, whatever about sex, religion, and politics, especially within the anonymity of an internet forum, always leads to bad feelings, disappointment, doubts, time outs, and expulsions. And you never change anyone's mind. Its kind of like trying to teach a pig to whistle. You're wasting your time and most likely end up annoying the pig.

Its kind of like trying to teach a pig to whistle. You're wasting your time and most likely end up annoying the pig. I aint no pig, I'm very Skinny, and I think straycat went on an internet fishing expedition which he is prone to do. So I cut the line before he could haul in a big one. He bashes science but uses science to make a living, and that is hypocrisy.

I only bash bad science and manipulation of the historical sciences by the Progressive Movement. All very obvious from my posts. Otherwise, science is awesome! Hypocrisy comment is a deflection. But it's your house, your rules. I respect that.

I guess ill have to remember that you cant bash science on here. man coming from apes is ok. actual historical timeline from bible not ok. Scrape, It's actually more nuanced than that. Aldeer is an awesome place for lots of discussions. Some are better received than others. Asking difficult questions or pointing out legitimate problems of and within the historical sciences can often ruffle feathers. Which is interesting because the historical sciences are all about questions and trying to follow the real evidence in order to find the truth. Well that is what it should be about. So if certain things are boldly questioned that's off limits from time to time. But hey, I'm just a member and a guest so the decisions are not up to me. I'm not always successful, but I try to conduct myself with honor and not resort to being ugly in my posts. I've never been on probation, time out or banned, but I've had multiple posts locked or deleted that dealt with evolution, creation, Christianity or historical sciences. I'll continue to give my opinion on the subjects from time to time. I don't own, run or moderate this site so it simply the way it is...their call. I have no problem with that reality. I wanted to know why my post was deleted--Skinny explained his reasons--I gave my rebuttal--it's all good. He's the Guvner.

Probably a good idea to lock this down. No need to beat a dead horse.
