Age of earth spin off thread...All seemed fine around 5pm, so what happened to get it deleted since then?
Did it get ugly? Or did a moderator decide they didn't like the topic being discussed?

Did it get ugly? Or did a moderator decide they didn't like the topic being discussed? ALDEER Triangle. Many-a-thread be sunk there.

One of two things probably happened:
1. Discussion turned ugly so a moderator shut it down.
Or
2. Certain biblical arguments or opinions ruffled feathers so the censor hammer was swung.
I've seen both happen over the past 12 years.
Owners and moderators get full control as they should, no arguments, just curious why.

My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

I thought it was a good, civil discussion on something that none of us are going to know the definitive answer, but it was interesting debate.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Sex, religion, and politics - the trifecta of dissonance, the three subjects that determine why we exist, what we believe, and how we organize our society. Sex is human - without it there would be no life. It is essential for for humankind's continued existence. Deviation of heterosexual norms (and deviants thereof) threaten our basic life as humans. Religion is what we choose to believe that gets us through life and to to a postmortem existence for eternity. Around this belief we create a social construct of people who share this life and post mortal existence. To accept that another religion "might" have merit shows a fissure in your belief. Too many fissures and there is a structural collapse. That cannot be accepted by many. And politics - the societal organization that provides stability, security, prosperity, and constructs a culturally acceptable means from the cradle to the grave. As with religion, if another culture might be right then ours might be wrong. Not acceptable. I said all that just to say this - arguments, discussions, fights, whatever about sex, religion, and politics, especially within the anonymity of an internet forum, always leads to bad feelings, disappointment, doubts, time outs, and expulsions. And you never change anyone's mind. Its kind of like trying to teach a pig to whistle. You're wasting your time and most likely end up annoying the pig.
