Hanging around like a hair in a Hardee's biscuit. Birds gobbling all across the property line. Trying talk one into coming over here and getting killed for a birthday bird two years in a row.
Yeah, well, I always heard there were three kinds of suns in Kansas: sunshine, sunflowers, and sons-of-bitches.

Congrats 77. I worked a double last night and came straight to the woods from work. set up on the bird that wouldn't commit to me last weekend. He gobbled about a dozen times, flew down and walked up the hill away from me. I think I'll just sit here and take a nap.
What you do today, you have to sleep with tonight.

Woke up with a doe standing about 10 steps from me. She turned in side out and blew till she was out of ear shot. Guess I'll just go ahead and start working my way back to the truck.

Congrats 77. Any size on the spurs ? The spurs were only 1" but a good beard of 11". He only weighed 15.13 so you tell he is worn down from the season.

For the first time in 5 or 6 hunts I finally heard a bird gobble at about 8AM. he was a ways off so I headed up the hollow toward him. Sat down and called a couple of times and he gobbled way up the hill. Started toward him and got a text from my wife who was on her way to an antique show and sale saying that my son was sick at school and asked if I could go get him. I replied that I would head that way shortly. I went toward the bird trying to make it happen and he was gobbling like crazy. I was getting close and realized that he was above a big power line and I got just under him and for the first time I could hear him drumming he was so close but I couldn't see him in the trees above the power line. First time I have left a turkey gobbling but I didn't have time to try to circle around. Maybe next week I can get back on him.
"Make a difference, take a kid hunting".
