They were all over me earlier in the year. Took the permethrin advice and started not entering the woods without being covered in deet and permethrin on outer clothes. Man that shut them down. Only ticks I saw after that, and there weren't many, were dead. So I was surprised about a week ago when I found one attached just above my right sock line. Pulled him off and didn't think anymore about it. Yesterday thought maybe I was starting to get sick cause I was getting that skin crawly feeling I get prior to a fever. Had it again this morning but very slight and not any worse. Progressed over the course of the day. It wasn't until a couple hours ago that I connected it with the tick bite. Was covered up under blankets a little while ago. Started doxycycline and tylenol. Tylenol seems to have broken the fever which I think is good sign. Hopefully won't come back. I gotta work in the morning.

Hate those little bastages!!!

They are everywhere this year. I've never thumped this many off before.

Permethrin. Simple fix and it's very effective. In your case, I'd head to a doctor asap though

The doxy's what I need so I'm covered, I'm just sick of these little blood suckers!

This happened to me before, several years back but the tick was tiny and went unnoticed until the fever was raging. Little sucker was tiny but by the time I found him he was perfectly round! Worst fever I've ever had! Under 1/2 dozen blankets and couldn't get warm. I guess that's why I'm encouraged that the fever broke an hour after tylenol.

Don't mess around with a tick illness. Go to the doctor.
I put off going to the doctor when I got it.
The worst I've ever felt by far.

If it's a black legged tick you COULD get lyme's. If it's a lone star tick (white dot on back usually and brown legs) you should be good. Might get sick temporarily but can't get lyme's from a lone star unless something has changed since I was in school within the last 4 years.

If it was a lone Star hopefully he don't develop a meat allergy like I did a few years ago eek

A meat allergy!
OMG! There's such a thing?
That would be the ultimate illness for me. Might as well be allergic to air.
Damn

Permethrin works great.
But a poor man's tick repellant is sevin dust in a sock. Fill an old sock with sevin and pat down your pants with it. And your boots.

Lone star ticks are certainly something to be cautious of; They carry the Alpha-gal allergen. You develop an allergy to all mammalian meat and can go into anaphylactic shock if you eat meat.

Ex-fil is a MD. I trust him for correct treatment. I knew it was antibiotics for treatment just couldn't remember which one. I'll continue the doxycycline and should be fine.

Warm winters are not helping. Read an article not long ago that moose in Maine were actually dying from tick infestations.

I spray often and haven't washed my clothes in 3 weeks and I still got ina. Bait of them and chiggers last friday. Eat my waistline up. I guess it doesn't help when you walk a half mile through chest high grass right out of the truck even after a spray down. I was crawling all day. Had a couple seed ticks so small they didn't show up for a couple days.

They are pretty bad this year. I think I've pulled a dozen off me the past 2 weeks.
