With cheap gopro type cameras I can't believe everyone doesn't already have front and back wide angle cameras with audio on every vehicle they own. Actually Beno, you're probably the ONLY guy who would ever do that. I know a few folks with A dash cam. I don't know anybody with panoramic cams. I think you're one-of-akind ... in more ways than we need to know.

I'll give you a much much better piece of advice. Get her a snub nose double action 38. GLOCK SUCKS! More capacity and a lighter trigger is going to translate to more hits with a Glock. Snub nose are extremely difficult to shoot given their size to trigger pull weight.

Need more than 5 rounds? She's dead by then. A DA revolver is a point and click option. No thinking required. PLUS it's safe to carry, unlike your Glock. I'm willing to bet all of you EXPERTS, with your fancy gun recommendation, have never been in a firefight. Probably never even been in a frightening situation. And you better pray your wife doesn't ever find herself in a bad situation with anything other than a point and click option.

Give me my Glock 40 all day, everyday, esp in a tight. But then, I trained a LOT. Give my wife a DA 38 hammerless snub .38 like Mark said. sorry ya'll had to go thru that

Taurus 38 is great choice. Plus she can shoot it a few times and become comfortable with it. As Jawbone pointed out, Glocks are dangerous, even in the hands of trained professionals. Im always begging and pleading with someone, not to give a Glock to a novice. Very bad idea.

Criminals routinely move in packs like animals with 2&3 together being common. A couple extra rounds is a good thing. People routinely miss or make non fight stop fighting hits. 3 attackers and 5 rounds is not odds I would want for someone. Guns are to be carried in holsters and training should happen regardless of chosen firearm. Training with a snubnose is miserable, extremely loud and snappy. Training with a Glock is a much more pleasant affair for most.

Snub nose are extremely difficult to shoot given their size to trigger pull weight. Glocks don't suck. I love them but whatever the husband gets the wife , make sure she has the strength to rack the slide. Training is key like one poster mentioned. If the firearm doesn't fit her it won't do any good. Some women just can't rack the slide. Try many at store for right fit because you may want Glock but it's a paper weight if you can't use it and under stress. Others panick during malfunction drills. Get her a gun that fits and one she can shoot second nature whether revolver or pistol. Buy some good dummy rounds and practice reloading and malfunction drills. This way when SHTF she will survive the ordeal. Lot of wannabe trainers who are clueless when it comes to gun fighting. Get a trainer who is ex law enforcement or military so you learn how to gun fight not target shoot. Before you hire that Firearms instructor check his or her experience. Was the instructor an LEO or military? Better yet were they a law enforcement or military firearms trainer? So don't just buy her a Glock! Make an educated decision and purchase and invest in good training!

And you better pray your wife doesn't ever find herself in a bad situation with anything other than a point and click option. My wife was a j frame person when I met her. After we ran through small unit tactics, basic and advance cqc and a little over ten thousand rounds with about 8 different handguns, she chose a glock (after it had been mostly desuckified). I make her train about 500 rounds a month with it in real world scenarios. She really didn't like being squirted in the face with a water gun at first while hitting the three by five card every time but she eventually either got tired and gave in or realized the value of training while distracted. I'm still not certain which. She's never been in a firefight and I hope she never is. I've been in pretty much any scenario a person can imagine and my only gripe is that none of my current sigs have a manual safety. Small gripe - thankfully.

Geno, you give me the creeps. I feel sorry for your wife. I think you're one of those high strung video gamers who never had the balls to join the military.

Pong is the only video game I've ever played. I joined the military before I was supposed to in order to escape a home life that I probably would not have survived otherwise. You don't give me the creeps but you do come off as a world class jerk.

However,in the situation described,if I had decided to start shooting at a punk in a car pointing a gun at me,other than an AR, a high capacity Glock would be my choice.

i love glocks. And is what i carry. But my wife likes the 38 snubbie. She carries a taurus protector. Thats all she is ready for. She hates the slide and cant/wont clear a jamb. Its a good entry level gun for a woman.
Your wife did the right thing. Anytime a situation can be resolved without any gunfire, its the right thing to do.
