Maybe the real reason the turkeys arent gobbling is because of the coyotes, not the hens.

You must have some weird turkeys cause I've had gobbling every hunt/gobbling a lot as well

Ahh gotcha gotcha...I've had em gobbling on the ground as well but hunted places with a ton of coyotes and they were a lot less vocal on the ground...maybe I just get so close on the roost is why even if they have hens, they still gobble...but coyotes do have an impact

Coyotes have a big effect on gobbling. I know a place that's absolutely loaded with turkeys but also loaded with coyotes. Those birds will not gobble in the woods. They will gobble a time or two in the tree maybe and if they're standing out in the middle of a big field they will gobble a lot but never in the woods.

that is how my buddies place is, it is 1300 acres all clear cut surrounded by hardwoods so maybe 1000 is clearcut and the rest hardwoods. We know it has over 15 gobblers but we have yet to hear one this year but we do see them
