At standard pressure, what is the effective range on deer? I am really wanting a matching lever gun and single action pistol. I don't hand load , I love the history of the 45 colt butwondering if I should stick to a 44 mag

I think the operating pressure on a standard 45LC IS 12,OOO-15,000 PSI but is much higher in the Blackhawk 20,000+ PSI. I have the Uberti copy of the 73 win and 73 colt saa. The rifle will kill effectively inside 100 yds but obviously the pistol will be much closer. If you get a modern spec firearm your distances will be increased due to increased pressure
When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself The older I get the better I used to be

Same ammo between them pistol and rifle with modern strong frame and good ammo I'd say 100 yards with the rifle. I'd say the same thing with 44 mag. Sure you might push it further to 125 or something but it is a 100 yard gun in my opinion.
You can turn the 45 colt up big time if you reload. It is a good one in that scenario for sure. I had a 94 Trapper I killed a couple deer with it did good. Wish I had it today.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.
