I got a call from the Birmingham Zoo a month or so ago. They wanted to purchase 2 nucs from me. I was happy to oblige their request. They had found out about my bees from a beekeeping supplier in Birmingham who I've done some business with. They came up earlier in the week and I gave them a crash course in beekeeping, then I packed up the bees and frames into their hives and sent them on their way. They are very excited to get started in beekeeping and I think it's pretty cool that "my" bees are going to be at the zoo.

So, if you ever go to the zoo and get stung by a bee, think of me.

Neither. They were from queens I got from a treatment free supplier last year prior to getting the first queens from Frost.

I'm about out of the hot bee business. I have one hive that's turned pretty aggressive this year. They were fine last year but have been too hot this spring. I have kept that hive from raising any drone brood to completion and will kill the queen the next time I find her.

My wife and I got season passes or whatever since my family likes to go. I'll make sure to go see your bees :P

You'll have to ask to go see them, they aren't going to be kept in the general zoo access area.

I reckon I need to grab my jacket and roll up your way for some beekeepin instruction.

You'll likely come away disappointed...
