Day-in, day-out, Core-Lokts are a meat and potatoes bullet. Nothing fancy or expensive about them. If I had to pick out a bullet for SHTF hunting and buy a truckload of them, without test-grouping them for a particular rifle, it would be them. Not necessarily super accurate, but they will kill the crap out of deer. And every gas station sells them, it seems.

People I know that shoot rifles as part of their profession say that the batch number on ammo is very important for precision shooting. Ammo manufactured in different batches will perform differently. I'm not sure I shoot well enough to tell the difference, but that is what the pros tell me so I believe them.
Don't know if that is your problem, but it is worth looking into.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Core-Lokts are the worst grouping bullet I've ever shot. I stick to federal and Winchester pretty much now.
It is easier to fool a man than to convince him he has been fooled.

I hand load all my hunting ammo. I've only shot now is barns ttsx. I loaded a bunch of core lokts and killed a mess of deer with them but the problem I had with them is they range of different weights and bullet fragments in my meat. You could weigh 50 bullets and be 30 different exact weights.

I can't even bring myself to tell my bad luck core-locks story again. I've shot Core-Lokts for 30+ years but really feel they've gone down in quality assurance/control. I'm purposely replacing them with Hornady and Winchester.

can you shoot core locks out of a Matthews ? Yes, just tape one on the end of your arrow and letter eat!
If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.
