I'm soon going to buy a new turkey vest. The one I have now is more of a strap style not a full vest. I like my old full vest style better, because I feel like I lost several pockets.

I have been using a gobbler lounger the past few years and it really helps on the long sits, but I hate carrying it around.

The Cabelas tactal tat'r vest is on sale and has a built in kick stand. Have any of you used a vest with a built in kick stand, are the bulky, heavy, cumbersome, worth using? Is any one better than another?

I saw a vest the other day that does the kickstand thing with straps, i can't remember the brand but it looked like it would work great.

That's an aweful lot of crap to fool with when you have a gobbling bird at 100 yards. BUT if I were to buy one it would be the cabelas M.O.R.E vest.

I wouldn't buy one with a kickstand, but I love my Bucklick Creek vest. I've had several occasions that I couldn't find a tree and it proved to be worth its weight in gold. Sadly, they don't make them anymore.

The redhead bucklick vests are very comfortable. I sat in the middle of tall grass leaned back in mine to kill one this morning.

I was unsure about a vest with frame and kickstands. They deploy quickly if you don't have a tree to sit against. I still sit up against trees, and You cant beat the comfort of that frame against a tree or rock. Its like having a chair back with you all the time. Now, like with any vest that has a cushion, your rear end is going to get tired/numb at some point, but my back never gets fatigued. I have the Alps vest, and it gets a thumbs up from me.

I have the tactical Tat'r II (sans kickstand). I think it's the perfect turkey hunting vest. You don't need no kickstand unless you're hunting open country.

I think they are used more for scenarios where there is brush but no tree to lean up against so you can set up in more places and still have something behind you to break your outline up a bit

X2. I've been hunting out of this style vest for several years now. It's all I'll ever use. Primos came out with a new one this year and I bought one. I've been very pleased so far, and it seems to be a little better quality than the Bass Pro / Redhead.

Alps vest gets the thumbs up from me as well.

I can't sit comfortably up against a tree for too long. With this vest I have a bit of recline action going on and it is so comfy.

I use the cabelas instinct tactical tatr vest. I personally love the fact I don't need a tree to be comfortable. I've run into several scenarios wher a good tree wasn't there to lean on and I didn't bat a eye. I suspect I'll be using a similar vest from now on.

Thanks for the feedback. I will get one ordered this week. The chair has allowed me to setup in privet, yaupon, clear cut edges, and several other spots without the need for a decent tree to lean against. I will still use the chair some, but whenever I get up and move around on a bird I never carry it with me and always have to go back and get it.

A local sporting good store got a bunch of those ALPS NWTF vests with the kick stand, I believe. Those things were like mountaineering backpacks.

I get hot in my regular vest and it's pretty darn lightweight.

I can't imagine toting around all that weight.

90% of the time I can find a pretty good tree anyway. Otherwise you're probably sticking out like a sore thumb.

I seriously kicked around the idea of buying one with a kickstand last year. I didn't buy one, but am still curious about them. Glad to see all the feedback from guys that actually use one.

I agree that most times there is a tree close...but having a vest that allowed me to set up in the position that best suits where I would like to be sitting as opposed to where a tree is AND allowed me to remain in that position comfortably for a long period of time would be an undeniable advantage

I bought a Browning Tracker seat two years ago and its been the best. No tree, no problem, lightweight and can function as a backpack. Also gets use during deer season. It can haul a turkey out no problem.

I picked up the new Alps grandslam at the convention. Only hunted with a couple times, very comfortable vest my only dislikes are the box call pouch and setting up on steep hills with the kick stand. The kickstand is removable so may try it that way but our season hasnt opened here so havent got to field test enough to give a good review. But I have several vests so if someone wants it I'll let it go at the Convention price it's bottomland camo 100.00
