Naw I'm content with my credit card earning me money on my purchases.
Security breaches are why debit cards shouldn't be used because they dip into your cash unlike a credit card.
That is the take away message here. THIS^^^ a credit card with cash back or airline miles or something is the way to go IF YOU HAVE THE DISCIPLINE TO PAY IT OFF EVERY MONTH. I don't like the idea of using them, but I'm coming around to it. It just makes sense if you can keep it paid off.

I swear some of the folks on here would pay in shells and ride in horse drawn buggies because they refuse to understand technology. I see both sides of it. But at least admit that you spend WAY more than the 1.5% in cash you get back by swiping plastic more often than you'd spend with cash. It's not a 1:1 comparison and credit card companies know it.

But at least admit that you spend WAY more than the 1.5% in cash you get back by swiping plastic more often than you'd spend with cash. It's not a 1:1 comparison and credit card companies know it. I disagree.....I do not spend more using plastic than I would with cash. Maybe some folks do, but I'm going to buy what I'm going to buy, regardless of the Method of Payment.

carry a little cash, can't remember the last check I wrote, pay all bills online and daily monitor credit card expenditures thru an app

That's what I told myself for years, but the objective data doesn't agree. Plastic allows for more money to be spent, easier. And the card companies make billions. For the record, I use plastic too, but I know I spend more.

I pay cash whenever possible. I use checks for large purchases. I finally got a debit card after not having one for 15 years. I use it at the grocery store and gas station. I haven't been to an ATM machine since I got held up at one about 25 years ago.
