The good thing about filleting it is nobody has any idea what they are eating unless you tell them. And everybody likes it if you don't tell them what it is

This...all the way down. Fillet it, season, flour, and fry. And PCP is exactly right about everyone liking it as long as they don't know what it is.

Perfectly legal in Bama, not so much in TN.

Rattlesnake, is actually pretty good. I lived next door to a taxidermist growing up and he loved hunting/cooking rattlesnake.

They need to be tenderized with a big stick so they aren't chewy.

Back when I was an Ag teacher the faculty took turns cooking goodies for the week before Christmas. I cooked a snake and put it on a tray in the office with all the cupcakes and such. The county maintenance man and his helper were at school that day and they were invited to fix a plate.

The helper spotted that fried meat and chomped down on it, talked about how good it was, and then asked what it was. I told him it was snake and he didn't believe me. He asked several teachers and they all confirmed it was snake. He didn't totally believe us until the principal said it was snake.

I've never before seen a Black man turn white, but he did. He threw down his plate and ran outside into the shrubbery and started puking. Violently puking. Everyone laughed at first, but then we felt bad when we saw how hard it affected him. He never seemed to like me much after that. I've always labeled it since then.

BBQ it on the grill like you would chicken, it's good. That's what we did with the last one we ate. Oh and it Might seem a bit gross but if you don't eat the entire snake the first night, shred of the rest of the barbecued snake meat and toss it on a house salad with ranch dressing! It's delicious!

I have never understood why people feel the need to kill something and not eat it or utilize it in any way. And before we go down the "they are dangerous" road.....

Quote:
There have not been any snake related deaths reported this year in Alabama. However, 31 snake bite calls have come into the Regional Poison Control Center at Childrens of Alabama.

During our report, we mainly ran into copperheads. Childrens of Alabama says the eastern diamondback rattlesnake, cottonmouth snake, pigmy rattlesnake, canebrake rattlesnake and the eastern coral snake are the other five venomous snakes found in Alabama. Although they list the copperhead as being one of the least dangerous, it still can be lethal.

I've barbequed it and it was a little tough but edible. I had some fried at the "Big Texan" in Amarillo Texas and it was down right good.

Tried it a couple years ago at the camp. Tasted okay, but too boney. I'd try it again if filleted out like mentioned above.
