Maybe if we scare/pressure them at night with lights they will become diurnal!

Most game cameras make a click noise when they take a picture. It has to be really quiet for us to hear it but I have walked up on mine to change cards and heard it. If we can hear it you know a deer can

I don't think the deer really care and will adjust to about anything in reason. You just can't find white flash anymore at a reasonable cost. I completely understand no flash when it comes to human camera predation/thiefs. So much more detail in white flash!

Game camera flash avoidance was has been proven. BSK posted about it. He even did his own study. He put flash cameras out with true infrared cams facing 180 degrees on the back of the tree. He caught mature bucks going around the flash cameras.

They ain't seeing anything from a true IR black flash, can't be jumpy from that. I'm a firm believer that white and red flash will scare mature bucks. I have many pics of big buck asses to prove it. I've been running cams waaaay before 09.

I took some pictures out of a shooting house of a mature buck at really close range late one evening with the flash from a fairly high quality camera and he never reacted. The flash was super bright and he was walking towards me.
I personally believe the sound bothers them more than the actual flash.

In old film setups I think it was the camera rewinding that scared them most. Either way I had a lot of big mature bucks that never returned for a second photo.

Just to stir it up a little...If deer are "supposed" to be color blind, how does/is a red glow supposed to affect them?

I'm not going to get into the debate about what's better, but since some of you have said you can't find a white flash camera any more, Cuddeback makes one (model 1279). Plus, if you decide later you want IR or black flash, you can buy the different flash module and change it out in a minute or so.

Not a stupid question at all... Yes. I'm not sure you'd have to replace the original, but they sell all the modules. It's the same camera, but the different model numbers indicate which flash it comes with. The 1279 comes with the white flash, the 1224 comes with the IR flash, and the 1231 comes with the black flash. And you can just purchase and swap the other flash modules at will. Kind of a neat system. And no, I don't work for Cuddeback or get kickbacks.
