I just don't think a 27 year old lady getting with a 17/18 year old boy is a big deal. And I do think the reverse is worse. Why? Because men are physically bigger and more intimidating. It's a double standard that I think is justified. The big question is whether something is actually consensual. I don't have a dog in this fight. I don't see any difference in a male student and female student. I also think it is a joke of a law and is unconstitutional for a teacher to be charged with a crime for doing something that any other person walking down the street can do with impunity. In Alabama if a person is 16, they can legally have consensual sex with any person in the world except a teacher. It doesn't even have to be a teacher in their school. A teacher legally, can not have sex with someone until they are 19. This in my opinion is going to end up in front of the supreme court. This is a violation of the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment. You can not treat one group of people different than the rest of the population. Doctors, lawyers, police officers, judge's legislatures, dentist, truck drivers, garbage men, even the governor can legally have sex with any person over the age of 16. But, get a teaching job and all the sudden, the age of consent becomes 19. I disagree. There are strict rules on physician patient interaction. And they are completely justified. A doctor, just like a teacher, holds a place of power in the other person's life, and there may not be such a thing as true consent. I'm sure it's true in the military too. I doubt a 5 star general can just go around slaying female privates (no pun intended). A doctor holds a place of power over their patients? You guys must have a whole different type of medical service over there. Or the doctors think a whole lot more of themselves than they should.

Obviously boys will exaggerate/Lie in the locker room and field house.
That wasn't the case for us in the early 80's. We where a tight group that were truthful. We participated in organized sports together until our 30's. But we didn't have to take their word for it. We would drop the student off with the teacher and pick them back up at a given time. We knew without it having been told. So we didn't speak of it. I have seen, heard, and done things that wouldn't be believed except by the ones who have known me. Some I can't believe myself and I was there. So its not spoken of. But that was a different time, a different life, and I'm now a different person. May be just me but at an early age, say 15, we seemed more mature and more responsible than the same age kids today. Maybe because we were rural, farming oriented. At 15 then if you couldn't change the oil in a tractor or the spindles in a cotton picker you were an idiot.

One of my teachers, probably 30 dated one of my buddies sisters in HS who played basketball. Soon as she graduated they got married. That was in 98 or 99. Everyone knew about it.

We had a police luetenant get shot by his 17yr old daughter In the late '70s. Then two coaches left town real quick the next year after some talk started going around about a couple coeds.

Well we've figured out its been going on for a long time and we've had some people who said they would've participated given the chance. There seems to be some who sees nothing wrong with it.
Now what we haven't heard is if it were your child involved with a teacher how would you react?

I personally see a LOT wrong with it. It is illegal and with good reason.
Sure I had teachers that were hot, and prolly would of jumped at the chance BUT the dang teacher should use better judgement...and go to jail if they couldn't.

Technology sure makes it easier to get caught and prosecuted these days. In the old days folks could just deny it unless they were caught in the act.

In the late 80's where I went to HS there was a very attractive science teacher that had dated, married, & had a kid with one of her students.

The teachers I had I wouldn't have touched with a 10' pole!!! Ain't that the truth. Just the thought of sex with any of the teachers I had in high school makes me feel kind of nauseated.

so you would decriminalize it??? I'm not trying to speak for doekiller. He knows the law and I do not. If his earlier post is accurate, a 16 year old in Alabama can have sex with anyone they want, except a teacher. So a 16-17 year old kid can sleep with a cop and no crime has been committed, but sleep with a teacher and jail time is warranted, even if the teacher worked at a different school. That's effed up. Now I fully understand school policies on prohibiting those relationships. I'm not advocating that we make easy for teachers to prey on students. But when we're holding them to a significantly higher standards than police officers and others individuals, that's messed up.
