Looking at the Tacoma and 4Runner. Which one is the best to buy and why? Pros and cons of each.
Thanks If it's going to be anything like you choosing a bow sight, do all your homework, ask a ton of questions, pick one out, and then buy the other one.

Truck for me, I haul too much hunting stuff and dead stuff to deal with an SUV. I have a 2011 tacoma, wife has the SUV. We always haul things in mine. If I bought the 4Runner, it would haul hunting stuff and dead stuff. I did that with the 1 SUV I had and got tired of trying to keep it clean when I knew I coulda just thrown stuff in back of a truck. It's really just personal preference.

I like BibbHunter's phrase "light hunting." Describes what I do to a T.

On the distance I like to walk to my stands: “The first 100 yards is also the last 100 yards.”

I got a 16 tacoma. Definitely not a powerful as the 2nd Gen but it still does fine. Get 18-20 mpg and have pulled upwards of 5000 pounds and it did surprisingly well. It is a little sluggish in acceleration tho The 4Runner I drove felt more responsive than the Tacoma.

Out of those two, if it were me, I'd get the truck with a nice camper shell. Kinda the best of both worlds and I think a camper shell looks good on a small truck. Same here. If you need to haul something bulky, the shell is easy off, easy on.

Thanks My 2014 Double-Cab Long-Bed comfortably seats 4, and can haul all the muddy-bloody stuff in the back. With a tonneau cover, nothing back there gets wet. Or you can put on / take off a topper if need be.

If you need a truck get a Tacoma, if you need a grocery getter get a 4 runner.

I wanted to go the Tacoma and camper shell route, but it drove like crap. The 4Runner drove way better. I'm gonna keep my truck, so that's not an issue.

If you're gonna keep your truck for a huntin and hauling rig, I think you just answered your query.

We've got a 2016 4Runner. Great ride, no regrets. I also owned a 2006 4x4 Tacoma, and it was a great truck until I totaled it last November. Both are good - I reckon it just really depends on your need.
