Never seen one hit so hard as I have with 35 Rem and 45-70. 30-30 and 35 will be lighter recoil with factory. If you reload you can get about the same recoil from a 45-70. I am pushing 405 grn bullet 1325 fps and it is stomper. And recoil is very manageable.

I'd go with the 35 Remington personally. But there is something cool about shooting a 45/70!! I miss mine and wish I never would have sold it! But I'm a big fan of the 45-70 too. Both are good brush guns. Ammo is much cheaper for the 30/30 but other than that, its a toss up. Either one is just as good a killer as the other. It now belongs to 300ruger. Last i heard he loves it too. I really couldn't tell a difference in noise level out in the open. The porting really keeps the barrel down and flat for follow up shots or multiple shots (pig hunting) if done right.
