Getting ready to sod my yard and was originally hoping to go with Bermuda 419. According to things I've read it's not shade tolerant at all. Celebration Bermuda is supposed to be shade tolerant...anyone have celebration Bermuda? Never been around it myself so not to sure about it.


I wouldn't mind zoysia grass but the prices are out of the range I would want to spend.

Looks like my best bet is to get it trucked in from south Alabama. Places are very proud of it close by here.

It is a very good grass but needs a lot of fertilizer to stay green.


Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

I've got both Tifway 419 and Celebration in my yard. The 419 was put down first, but later on when I wanted to extend my yard, I couldn't get it, so had to settle for Celebration.

Side by side, they're both very nice grasses, but I do prefer the 419. As you said, the 419 does suffer more than the celebration in the shade though. The 419 has a thinner blade, and the Celebration seems to develop more thatch.

Thanks for the replies. I'm mainly trying to stay away from centipede. Had it at the last house and hated it.
