Made a nice pot last night with friends. Good ol' southern Gumbo, with okra, green pepper, onion, celery, Conecuh sausage, grilled chicken and fresh gulf shrimp. Served with toasted jasmine rice and buttered, toasted French bread.

That looks mighty fine. I made a pot a couple of days back sans the shrimp.

Do you put okra straight in or cook it first? I saute my okra in uncured bacon grease before I put it in.
