I live in Madison county and I'm searching for the best spots around for hogs. I got a few guys at work that want to go but no one knows where to go. Any suggestions are welcome.

Good luck!!! Unless you find public land with some on it your chances of finding a place to just hunt hogs are slim to none. I guess there not nearly the problem that they are made out to be.

Everyone I talk to says they are a problem and even news reports say they are everywhere. Just looking for somewhere to take care of them.

Yeah I thought they were to but none of these landowners or farmers will let anyone come in and kill hogs. Heck I'm offering $6000 a year to find a good club that has a "Hog Problem" and have had zero takers.

All these reports are exaggerated. Texas has issues with them, but Alabama is not overrun. Doubt Alabama could ever be overrun with the number of good ole' boys ready to shoot.

Try Bankhead Forest if you really want to kill a hog. Look up Tommy Counts, local biologist, and he will steer you as to exactly where to go. If Mr. counts can't get it done, it isn't going to happen. There is no telling how many hogs he has killed for the state on that tract alone. Tommy is also one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.

If there's a huntable population of them east of I-65 and north of Birmingham I don't know anything about it. Never seen one around here. I hear of them in a few places on the river but don't know of many being killed.

At one time there was a hog problem around the Gardendale area but that's the furtherest north that I know of.

I am kinda in the same boat, I just moved to Hazel Green AL from CO expecting there to be great hunting and that is not so much. One of the reasons I moved was expecting to Hog hunt again, something I did while living at Vandenberg Ca for 4 years., Hunted them year round here. There is not much public land here, BLM, Natl Forest etc, So it looks like it is a pay to play situation, pay for a lic and tag and different fee for each SWA or Buy lease some land??

Oh well live and learn 3-4 yrs

TVA land along flint creek in morgan county. Lotta pigs, but tough to stalk!

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

I have yet to see the first hog out there. Have you seen them yourself? I bow hunt that most every year and have yet to see, hear, or smell one. If they are there, I'd sure love to chase them around!

Hogs up here are few and far in between, nothing huntable in my opinion. Never saw one in Madison county, not saying they don't exist up here but never saw any. Too many rednecks shooting everything that moves around here!

Down south is a different story, Birmingham and south is where you will find them.

Supposedly, according to some News source and a FB link, some town called Morris is worried for their Safety because of the large bands of roaming wild boars.......
Might be a good place to start!!!! smile

I tried to find hogs in Bankhead today. No pigs and never saw any sign, but saw 6 deer. Most I have ever seen in Bankhead.

Yes. They use to have a two week hunt about this time of year. There is a few also on Greentree at the head of mudcreek. Go to church with a biologist that trapped a good many a couple years ago off North Sauty.

There is a huntable population here in Lauderdale County and a few scattered in Colbert county. Seven mile island does a MZ hunt in March specifically for hogs. I have worked with several farmers and had "agreements" on the land to be the only one hunting. After my equipment getting stolen numerous times and "good uns" turning their dogs loose at my traps, I let it go. The landowners got tired of all the trespassing and damage the people were doing to their fields. They wont give any permission anymore unless they are related.

Bankhead also has a good population.

If I were wanting to have an outing to try and find some, I would look at seven mile or bankhead. Read the reg's though, as they only let you hunt them during another open season (squirrel, turkey, etc) unless they do a special hunt, like seven mile.

It is what it is.

Inspect what you Expect.

Hunting TN, AL, KY, and IL.
