Well well well. Looks like we got a good group here boys. Foldemup, hope we can pull a win off here also. All I got to say is my wife is lucky I'm married to the best woman in the world. She didn't realize when she signed up to work at a women's faith renewal at our church, that it was the first weekend of turkey season. So it won't be till the end of the month before I make my first trip. I should get 2 week long trips in April which in years past is usually the best hunting. Looking forward to the season. Good luck guys.

Looks like a winning team to me! I've always heard of the luck of the Irish, hopefully we'll have the luck of the coonass since we drew one! Lol!

One thing for sure is I may not kill em but I will chase the hell outa them everyday I'm at the camp. Hank we are gonna sure nuff get together now. I don't share turkeys with just anybody but now that we are team mates, I will share with you. IF WE HAVE ANY!!!

I'm really excited for this season. My 2 oldest daughters (9&11) say they are ready to try to shoot one. I usually run and gun, but I put out a blind on the edge of a small pasture that birds fly down in almost everyday. They haven't been very vocal, but they are there for about 30 minutes before they move on. Hopefully they can connect on one this weekend. Got some .410 loaded with TSS ready to work!

Good luck to them kids. Wish I could be out after them with my kids but we got to still work for a living. Work is way overrated.

Well I've got him roosted but he's in a bad spot! Gobbled probably 15 times on the limb this afternoon.

Just checking in. International paper decided to have our annual outage the first two weeks of season so I probably won't get to hunt much until April. Maybe there'll be a couple of stupid ones left by then. I'm usually good for one turkey a season because I bowhunt. Hopefully I can get three this season.

Did everything but kill him this morning! Set up before daylight about 120 yards from him and he forever more put on a show gobbling. Like 200+ times from 5:30 to 7 when he finally flew down. Took a little sweet talk but had him at 35 yards by 8 and my hunter never saw him. I was telling him right where he was but he still couldn't see him. I made him gobble at 40 yards as he was leaving thinking my hunter would see him but no luck.

Well at least you got out there Hank....I talked myself out of taking my girls in the cold this morning. 34 degrees up here...I didn't want their first turkey hunt to be a miserable experience.

Thanks guys! It was an awesome hunt he just couldn't close the deal! I've replayed it 10,000 times in my head and still don't understand how/why he couldn't see the turkey.

Maybe you should consider picking up a shotgun since you joined a 3 turkey contest. Not trying start out on the wrong foot with a teammate here but I know everyone else is thinking the same thing.

OK let's all hold hands and sing together now! Lol!

Sluggun it would be nice if each member of the team put 3 birds on the scorecard this year. But if you're dead set on bow hunting by all means do it your way and good luck!

I say we go with PBT Killers since Casey was the first to come up with something.

Lol yea I guess it really is a mute point because honestly you only stand a chance of winning if every member can hunt 44/45 days in 14 different states. I know that I don't have the time or resources to do that!

My hand felt like they were about to fall off. Hope y'all all kill in the morning. Y'all just think of me stuck here at home when y'all squeeze the trigger.

Y'all better get to killing some dang turkeys. How y'all gonna carry me thru the season if y'all don't kill nothing. J/K. It's gonna be a LOOONNNGGG 2 week wait to get in the turkey woods. Y'all post up some stories (true or lies) for me to read. I think I'm dying a slow death here knowing it's the 1st weekend of the season and there ain't a turkey to hunt within 400 miles of me. Good luck guys.

I went this morning after working midnight shift but didn't hear or see anything. I guess it was too cold. I'll give them another try Friday and all day Saturday. But it doesn't matter cause looks like some of my teammates have already given up on me before season even started.

Not all of us brother. I wish I had the patience to hunt them with a bow. Hell I don't hardly have the patience with a shotgun. Good luck with that bow.

Agreed, It is all about having fun but being competitive is what is fun to me! Shoot, id pick up my bow too but I have a hard enough time with a gun! I ain't gonna get Bent out of shape over this thing. To prove it I'll even offer to let him come hunt with me and I'll back him up with my shotgun. I'd actually love to see one get stuck with a bow.

It's all good fellows. I'm not upset with anyone. Jonlee126 you haven't seen competitive yet. I'm the most competitive person you'll ever meet. One of my goals is to limit out with a bow in Alabama. I haven't done it yet mainly because of my calling ability and having to work shift work interfering with my hunting time. I have however killed three in a season including one that was solid white. Just wanted y'all to realize that my choice of weapon is not a limiting factor.

That's good to hear! Looking forward to some pics.

The place we used to hunt in Texas would be about the only place I would try to bow hunt turkeys. That place was loaded, but back then they were jet noisy corn stealing pests and we cared nothing about hunting them. But like I told my brother, if you ever catch me hunting an Alabama turkey with a bow, call 911 fast because something bad is wrong with me. It's hard enough with a shotgun. You guys that can kill one with a bow in bama are my heroes.

2 bad days here fellas! I haven't heard a peep. I'm hoping it's just the cold temps.

I talked to our nieghbor today Hank, he said there's nothing happening around our place yet. He's seeing a few tracks on the roads but ain't heard a gobble yet. He told me not to get nervous that it's still to early for our area. Told him I stay nervous about them damn turkeys. Lol

Two gobblers and seven hens came out thirty minutes after I left yesterday. I didn't go this morning and they came back just after daylight and stayed over an hour. He better not come back tomorrow because I'm gonna stay all day if that's what it takes.

Good luck sluggun! I'm going to stay home this morning and hunt my 200 acre lease that borders my personal property. I'm hoping the warmer temps this morning will have them fired up.

Well I shaved feathers off of ones back this morning. It sucks to get a chance and then blow it. Maybe he will come back tomorrow. If not maybe one of the other three that I have on camera will cooperate.

Y'all need to get up. Time to get in the woods and kill one. All this missing and picture taking needs to stop. Somebody put on on the ground to knock the edge off. I'm just kidding with y'all, but really somebody needs to kill a damn turkey. 12 more days before I can head to the camp. Time sure does crawl by when that's all you can think about. Think I'm falling into a deep depression. Good luck guys.

I got up this morning in the pouring rain and heard zero gobbles. I did hear 3 gunshots within 1/2 mile, so that was comforting

I didn't hear or see anything this morning. I went back this afternoon to where I shot at the turkey Friday morning and saw seven hens and what I think was the gobbler that I shot at. The hens all came in range but the gobbler wouldn't. I know about where they went to roost so maybe I'll get another chance at him in the morning.

Congrats on the kills.
I had one gobbling good this morning but he just wouldn't come in. His hens came in to the decoys and I thought it was going to happen. I don't know what went wrong. I went back this afternoon but didn't hear or see anything. It will be Friday before I get another chance to go. Maybe I can put one on the board then.

Well guys I didn't hear anything this morning but went to a different spot around noon. I had one gobble from 2:30 until after 4:00 but he wouldn't come in. I did see him one time. I'll probably go back there in the morning if none of the other club members sign it out before I can.

Good luck to all you guys that are hunting this weekend. Hoping to head up to the camp Wednesday afternoon, but my mother in law is in the hospital and being treated for encephalitis and my be on an antibiotic IV for 2 weeks. My wife is staying full time with her so I may not make it up to the woods this week. Our season here opens tomorrow and my buddy wants me to hunt with him if I don't go to bama so there is still a chance for me to get gobbler.

Congrats Foldemup!!! My buddy called me yesterday and told he got a good gobbler in the rain. He said everytime it would thunder he would hear numerous birds gobble. Had a gobbler come up on him at 0730 and being the 1st gobbler of the season,he got so excited he chit in his lunch box. Clean miss. About 30 mins later he had 5 gobblers come to him and he to revenge on one as he shot him in the face at 10yds. He also saw another gobbler in the rd as he was walking back to his truck. 7 damn gobblers in one hunt. I ain't laid eyes on that many in the 5 years I been hunting in bama. I will hopefully be hunting a few days with him next week. Good luck guys.

Congrtas Casey!

Marsh if you make it up next week give me a shout and we'll get together.

Amanda heard 3 gobble yesterday morning on our place so I'm hopeful about this coming week. I'm working my last day shift of the season today, got the rest of season to run them here and a week long florida hunt coming up.

Well guys I have hunted hard all week and haven't heard or seen a turkey since Sunday. I have to work nights the next four days so I'll be back after them on Tuesday. Maybe I'll get lucky next week.

I'm still stuck at home because my mother in law is still in the hospital. We think they finally figured out what's making her looney(more than normal). Hopefully it won't be long and she can come home and I can get to the woods next week. Good luck guys.

I'm in a deep depression from not being able to get in the woods. I WILL get up to the camp next week but things aren't sounding real promising according to our neighbor. I did get to feeling a little better after busting a big hog this afternoon. Good luck to all you guys and sorry again for not being able to get in the turkey woods. Still time left.

I wish! Lol! Killed a 2 year old this morning with freakn beard rot. About 3/4" spurs and a 1 1/4" beard. Went to another property and called up a stud for my partner. 10" beard and 1 1/4" spurs.

Hopefully I can get on another one and it'll be a long spurred quintuple beard!

Kinda hard to post on a thread when your laid out in the fetal position like an addict with withdrawals. I've bout had enough of not being able to hunt. I'm almost to the point I'm gonna quit my jobs, abandon my wife and kids and go chase them birds that I know I'm no good at killing. J/K, I'm finally going to get to head up to the camp next week. The kids and I are gonna hopefully hunt Friday thru Tuesday if everything is good with my mother in law. If nothing else I will finally get to meet and shake the hand of the turkey killin and trapping legend known as "North40R". Good luck to you guys.

Congrats Hank! I'm still after them....I'm in Florida today where it was 35 degrees at daylight and 70 at 3 pm. Not a whole lot of action the last two days. I wish I could've made an earlier trip down here, but I've gotta play the cards I got dealt.

I only killed one in Florida, but it was a goodun. Fighting with photobucket right now, but it was a 22+ lb Osceola with 11 1/4 in. beard and 1.5 in. spurs. My hunting buddy killed 2, one was almost identical to mine, except his weighed 18 lbs. and his second bird was a 2 yo with 7/8 spurs and 9 in beard. I'll get pics up later, this thing is pissing me off.

Well boy, it's finally going to happen. Heading up to the camp tomorrow morning. Our nieghbor called me this morning and told me he has a gobbler in his pasture that gobbles hard every morning and pitches down in the pasture. He has killed his 2 bird limit(his choice) want me to go with him Friday morning to try to kill him. My son is wanting to sleep in Friday morning after the long day we will have tomorrow. He and I will spend the rest of the weekend trying to get him a gobbler. Hopefully I can et some points and just be a coat tail rider.

We made it up to the camp around 4pm. Some 3 sets of gobbler tracks and a few sets of hen tracks on our main road to camp. We had a good rain at camp yesterday midday so I know they are fresh. My nieghbor came met me a sand told that gobbler in his pasture gobbled his head off again the morning and pitched down in the pasture again. We are gonna try to get on him in the morning.

I'm not throwing in the towel yet but I think our place is completely void of any gobblers this year. We checked everyone of our rds yesterday and we found one set of gobbler tracks and I'm not sure if they were since the rain a few days ago. Found a few hen tracks so that's good in a way. We didn't hear a gobble anywhere from our big hill this morning. Still got a few days left maybe one will show up for these hens.

Sorry guys, but it looks like my turkey season started and finished with the trip over the weekend. I thought our season in La went till the end of the month. Nope it closes Tuesday and I don't get off work till Wednesday. And I'm not going back to the camp till my mother in law is back to her normal self,if that will ever happen. Sorry for being a drain on the team but matters that I couldn't control knocked me out the game. Good luck guys with all yalls travels and keep posting pics and stories. That's all some of us are going to have this season.

No worries Marsh...Those guys on Team 1 are tough to beat. It's gonna be hard to dethrone them without a team where everyone kills 3 gooduns.

Picked up some points this weekend guys. It's been a rough season for me but I have next week off so maybe I can pick up another one or two.

This weekend sucked, barely heard a gobble. I'm done for the next week, but I'll be traveling next week

3 more mornings here in Bama then off to the Midwest with Ms. Amanda. The plan is to start in Oklahoma and hopefully we'll punch a few tags then head North. If I can kill a Rio and Merriams on our little adventure I'll have a single season grand slam. That would be pretty awesome in itself but this year being the first year I've made and ran my own calls would make it really awesome!

That will be awesome! Best of luck to you two! Did you get my e-mail about Oklahoma?

Sorry man I just found this. Yes I got the email but don't think we're going up that far. We stopped at a fire station Friday afternoon to ask for directions and picked up 360 acres of private land. Killed a nice double this morning before the bad weather hit and hopefully we'll get to finish filling out tags by Monday.

Well guys I hunted my azz off this season and only had one turkey in shotgun range. Somehow I only managed to knock a few feathers off his back. Only heard about five gobble the whole season. Sorry I couldn't put one on the board. I guess now I can focus more on archery tournaments.

Well guys my season eneed in Alabama and Kentucky trip just didn't work out and the weather messed up the Colorado trip they got 14 inches of snow where we was supposed to hunt so the outfitter let me reschedule for next year. Sorry I couldn't finish it off with a bang it was a good year for me considering I only hunted about 7 mornings. Good luck to the rest of you who are getting to travel.

Better luck next year fellas! I could upgrade my two 50 point birds but what would another 20 points do? Lol!

The number of killers in this contest is almost unreal! It'll take a team with 18 above average birds to win each season.

I want to congratulate you guys on all yalls kills. I hope next year I will be able to get back to my normal hunting schedule and we have some gobblers on our place. Not sure if I'm gonna sign up next year because it's not fair to the team because I really suck at turkey hunting. Lol. Really enjoyed it.

I posted them. Only worth about 10 or 12 points but we'll take em anyway!

It was a fun season and I enjoyed sharing it with y'all!
