If you catch a fish that could be a record what would be the quickest way to have them weighed on certified scales. If I lucked up one day and broke a record it would be nice to know what to do just in case. Plus you would have a better chance of keeping alive.

You would call the DCNR or local game wardens office

Get a scale that is IGFA certified and keep it in the boat as well as a go-pro or smart phone so you can video it getting weighed in the boat.

Bring it to a certified scale (bait shop/game warden) with a witness as fast as you can then you should be GTG.

More info here https://www.igfa.org/Fish/SCALES-AND-CERTIFICATION-.aspx

IGFA certified scales have to be recertified , I think I remember, every year or maybe two years. I kept some for a number of years.

I think my wife and I have broken prolly 40 IGFA records, mostly fly rod.
