Florida has been baiting deer for 30 or so years.Corn, Sweet potatoes and salt blocks. You would think that if there was a health problem with the herd, we would know by now. I wonder what percent of hunters in Ala already put out bait. Just about everyone I talk to does. Will that number grow that much more if this passes. I would guess some.

Kansas, Wisconsin, Ohio..I could go on. Heck, I hunted in Texas this year and I had a feeder within line of sight and shootable every dang hunt. A couple times 2 feeders! But they were also along food plots, gas lines that were planted...and it was no cake walk believe me. I saw lots of does, hogs , turkeys and young bucks. It wasnt until my 5th day (into a 3 day dang hunt) that I finally saw a shooter. He was with 2 younger bucks (100-120') chasing a hot young doe, 2nd rut. He wanted NO PART of either of the 2 feeders, and I had to get out and scramble 300 yards along that gas line food plot to get him. And if the 2 younger bucks HAD NOT chased that doe ACROSS the gas line,..making him follow..I never would have got him. He would stay way back in the mesquite thicket from those feeders , I assure you. He was the First mature buck I saw in 5 days hunting feeders mornings and afternoons, then still hunting/rattling all mid day, and during the 2 nd rut, which is when I love to kill mature bucks in any state..(less does in estrous). Feeders are definitely are no silver bullet. I dont even get many day time pictures here in bama on them of mature deer either in the 2 spots we feed them at. Ive hunted feed in a ton of states and filmed deer on it in Canada. The RUT and 2nd rut is when you kill big uns...and only then do I find feeders even remotely helpful...and only as the bucks will come out or cruise them for does. The real big uns seem to hang back in the thicket to me.

Deer won't stand and fill their stomach to the brim at a feeder. They ALWAYS have other natural food they eat, so I find the rumen ph shift and starvation to be unmitigated horsechitt.
Same with disease...what disease exactly are they spreading????
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

not going to argue th ethics of hunting over corn but do you really believe that corn is no more beneficial to deer than , say, cardboard??? NO protein, no carbs, nothing??? No, I would certainly not say that there are absolutely no nutritional benefits to corn feeding to deer, but it is more like feeding sugary cakes vs. something else like protein pellets or planting food plots including Summer plots. And one thing is for certain: corn does nothing for a buck's antlers, and for me antler growth is the only reason to do supplemental feeding, and for me that means Fall/Winter plots that provide quality forage through June, Summer food plots, timber thinning and burning and mineral licks. I think it is fair to say that most people use corn feeders to try to train deer to go to a certain area for hunting purposes and not to actually help the deers nutrition. I think the nutrition argument for corn feeding is silly nonsense and just subterfuge for what is really the purpose: train deer to go to a certain area for hunting. Respectfully! ~~

According to an article in AON Mag the inside info is that just like last year the bill will die in the Senate without a vote, just like last year. There will be wailing and weeping and gnashing of teeth across the land of Bubba
