I'm sitting in the San Antonio airport, and was thinking about this work trip I've been on. I'm not one to get all emotional and such but boys let me tell ya..The Alamo will get a tear to your eye if you have half a heart. Getting to see that place and see what those men defended, definitely will affect you. Honestly the physical buildings aren't that impressive. But still, knowing that you are standing where a few hundred men stood facing certain death is heavy. Really enjoyed getting to visit the Alamo. Figured I'd share.

Definitely a place everyone should visit.

Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death! - Patrick Henry

I don't thought it was a waste of my time. I am a history buff, have two history degrees, but the Alamo didn't do anything for me.

I guess it isn't that big of a deal if you see it for what it is currently. It's been rebuilt. It's not the original structure. I still got a little misty eyed reading the names of the men who died there. to me it was a humbling experience.

The historical significance is definitely a bigger deal than the mission in its present state.

or the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Israel.

very deep place.

one in DC is pretty intense, but not like the one in Israel.
