I don't know. People are going to have to get a lot more mad about coyotes before it will happen. The anti-trapping people love to hate the evil snares.
As far as being easier to deal with and set... night and day vs. a foot hold trap. Still there is a method to it just like a foothold. Obviously you can't just hang one anywhere and expect to catch something. But as far as scent control, digging holes and trying to "trick" a very smart animal into doing something he doesn't naturally want to do or is wary about is difficult. A well disguised snare takes care of all that. It will catch the smartest coyote around. He's just walking along his route one day and next thing that happens.... he's as good as dead.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Email the NTA Director for Alabama and the President of the ATPCA. They are interested in hearing if you want to legalize the use of snares in our state. Toby and Mike are meeting with the Governor and a large group of Legislators, today. Toby Hutcheson - Email: circletranches@yahoo.com Mike Sievering - Email: vsievering@atpca.org I sent Toby an email yesterday about our coyote problem and my thoughts that snares were a better, cheaper, and easier solution than leg holds for predator control. Please express similar opinions in your correspondence. Get involved in the National Trappers Association and most importantly at our state level by becoming a member of the Alabama Trapper and Predator Control Association, http://www.atpca.org/
