buckets do fine, just have to water more often. I have to water my container tomatoes every day in june/july heat Yep..that's the only downside. In the summer I have to water them in the morning and evening.

ok Maggie, you have raised the bar on me. Now I gotta go build me another raised bed.
MsHunter, all my raised beds are on slopes. use a line level (about $1.50 at your local) to get it right.

I actually thought about that but then I would have to fence it to keep the dang dogs out. I built a shelf down my fence and set the buckets on it. Have a hose right there and the dogs can't dig or pisses on them. Works out pretty good for me.

Maggie, you got some nice looking beds. You got me wanting to take down 5 water oaks in backyard for more sunlight for raised beds. Go for it!! We grow soooooooo much in our raised beds and eat amazing food all summer and even put some up!! If I still had to grow in the ground and do all that weeding, I would not even think about doing my gardening now. The older we get the more efficient we get.... Thanks for the compliment too...mighty nice of ya.
Be kind to one another and tell the ones you love that you love them often. We never know what tomorrow will bring.

Troy, why you plabting blueberry bushes in a raised garden bed? because it is in my backyard where the dang deer can't go... same reason I don't plant a winter garden...dang deer.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....
