Does anyone know if you can remove a dependent mid year? I know I waited too late for open enrollment but would love to put myself and son on medishare and cut our insurance bill hopefully in half. Any ideas? Short of me calling them figured I'd ask you know it alls first.

Don't think so. I had to go a month without insurance because my dad had to enroll the family and they said since I was starting a job with health insurance provided that he couldn't remove me if I started on it.

Call them and ask.

Miss a payment and they will drop you.

There should be special election periods where you can make changes or given certain circumstances they will allow changes to be made. Just call them and see what they say.

This, I did this last year.

In my case I cannot drop a dependent short of canceling whole contract or getting a divorce.

Mines telling me that I didn't check the Non Smoker box. I know I did, because I quit 3 years ago and am very proud to be able to click that button. I lost my wellness discount. Costing me $100 per month extra and they are telling me I cannot change it until Open enrollment at year end.
