Does anyone know anything about the S&S Hunting club in Tuscaloosa. They have changed their name to Hillview Oaks?

I've hunted there the last 2 years. It's been poorly managed for years. The first year, the president took everybody's money and leased another piece of land and left the land owner hanging and none of the food plots got planted. This year we had a good group of guys, 15 of us, but it was extremely slow hunting. There were 2 very nice bucks killed and that was it other than a few does.

The current lease holder has decided to make it a high-end hunting club. 10 members, $2000 per person. I don't think that piece of land is worth $1000 per person. Maybe after a few years of good management, but before this year there hadn't been a food plot planted on it for several years. The deer just aren't there...

I think so. Maybe not a whole lot of illegal stuff, but a lot of the neighbors had corn piles and would shoot anything they could. The bucks there have great antler genetics, there's just not many deer there period. None of the members that were in it this year are getting in it next year if that tells you anything...

I checked into it a few years ago and a guy that grew up in the area said locals had always did what they wanted in the area.

I was in that the club the first year. Lots of locals that hunted it every day. A lot of deer were killed including some really big ones. By the end of the first season, every shooting house had someone daily.

The dogs from the local neighborhoods nearby ran all over the property.

It was mostly hardwoods with some really steep slopes in parts. What started out as a limited club when I had joined went to 15-20 members and two of us were not local.

That was probably five years ago. Assuming you are talking about this club:
