Scott Fountain, Special Teams Coach relieved of his duties. No one knows yet, but he may be moving into an off the field job to make room for Rocker, or he may have just been fired for some reason we don't know about yet.

Is Shelton the high school coach whose player signed?

I saw a guy writing about this the other day saying it's a chitty practice to do hire the high school coaches and apparently there's a proposal to end it. He apparently didn't mind coaches firing assistants the day after National Signing Day, though, which IMO is worse since they've established relationships, gotten 18-yos to sign and then are axed as "just business."

It's Felton not Shelton. It's not like Bama hasn't done it either. Hire the Dad to get the son. Fountain move has been in the works awhile.

Most people in the US have a First and a Last name.
His name is Felton Shelton. He says he is not going anywhere. I just like to make an occasional Burbankesque post.

Clem, there is supposed to be a ruling this year about the practice and it is already an unwritten rule that it should no longer take place.

Chapman was the player at Hoover and I believe it was how Pruitt got his start in College ball. Anyways, after Chapman suddenly got eligible and the former Alabama cheerleader councilor took the fall for the grade change, Alabama hired the high school coach that was involved. I want to say it was Pruitt, but my memory may be failing me on the name.

First one that came to my mind as one of the most blatant payoffs to a player's coach I can remember. I'm not saying other schools don't do it, look at USCe and Bentley. I just remember the Chapman situation almost blew up big time. We had grade changes by former UA cheerleaders. Allegations of said cheerleader running with a coach. Chapman gets in, said coach is hired at bammer. One good thing did come from this though, Chapman got a special tutor to help him since he had a Learning Disability and despite the disability, he still graduated. Now I admit that a lot of this post is very sarcastic and meant to be, the last part was not meant to be sarcastic, but from the heart.

We signed walkon transfer Avery Johnson junior on the stipulation we would hire his dad?

Or we hire his dad to get him?

People hire coaches to get players all the time. That wasn't what was said

I remember a run of the mill high school coach getting his first college job at Arkansas so they could sign his high school QB Mitch Mustain.

tigger said bama hired a dad to get the son, I was just curious if he had any examples
