Anyone hear of a cause yet? I bet a lot of the logging companies in our area will hurt because of the shut down if they can't find other places to sell the timber.

Did they have an estimate of the down time it is going to take to repair? They didn't have an idea yet.

Did they have an estimate of the down time it is going to take to repair? I'll guess 6mo to a year.

They are undecided if they're going to rebuild That was my next guess. Our Port Hudson mill lost a power boiler it's not looking good for them

1bamashooter, I helped startup power boiler #5 at Port Hudson back in 1988. That was good work. I wish them the best.

They are undecided if they're going to rebuild That's what I'm worried about.

A local guy has a dealership with IP in Cantonment, and it is his bread and butter. He, along with the entire timber harvesting bunch around here, has struggled for the last year or so. This will probably finish him off. That is sad to hear.

According to my source that mill was the lowest cost production mill in their fleet so hopefully that'll get them back going What he said. P5 is a big machine and makes a lot of low cost liner board. I would be willing to bet they rebuild it.

Last new mill built in this country was (I'm told) ARP between Monroeville and Grove Hill. It was built in early 70's, so almost 50 years old now, and that's the NEWEST?
I have a dark suspicion there won't BE any paper mills in the USA in 20 years. Like the roads and bridges system, too little maintenance too late. I fear the big mill owning companies will build them in Brazil, Russia, etc.
No IRS, OSHA, EPA, EEOC, etc, etc, etc. hope like hell in wrong. Buying 70 acres this month I hope to cut timber off in 20 years.
