Unless there are multiple partners, do it online. My atty told me she could not in good conscious because I could do it myself and save lots of money, but I have no partners.

I did mine online. You don't have to have an attorney unless you just want to let go of $1000+. It's a pain, but will save you $. I have a friend of mine that will set you up if she's still doing it for much cheaper than an attorney if you want to go that route.

A CPA firm can also do it for you. Filed all my paperwork...i signed on the highlights,,$625 and know it wa correct and legit.

There is no way it can be truly legit and free. Fees have to be paid to the state to register your LLC name at the very least. Don't trust it...money well spent.

After many years of being around and even writing contracts, I ALWAYS run my drafts and ideas through my attorney. Law is NOT my field, and I need to have peace of mind that a rule or procedure hasn't changed that I was unaware of.

Do it online. I did my own s Corp online. Why pay a lawyer unless some complex situation?

I don't know how AL works but in FL you go to Secretary of State division of corporations website and do your own. They walk you through step by step. Pay fees by credit card. I would think AL has something similar. I know getting an AL nonresident insurance license is done online and simple. Would figure they allow you to set up corporation online similar to how we can do in FL

There is absolutely no way to form a LLC for free. If you didn't pay the state and county filing fees, you don't have a legal LLC.

Your friend is practicing law without a license if she is preparing legal documents for others.

She set it up online. I myself went to the courthouse and paid the filing fees. I think what they meant by free, is the actual website doesn't charge to set it up. I paid $110, I think, at the courthouse. There was papers I had to sign and help fill out, but it was much easier than having to take the time to do it all on my own when I had no idea what I was doing.
