I've enjoyed this site for many years, but the fact is I never really belonged here. I'm not the avid outdoorsman I wish I could be. I rarely fish anymore, I hunt deer maybe one day a year and I usually do one dove shoot a year. What few guns I own, I might shoot once or twice a year. I've really tried to fit into this world of the outdoors, but the fact is, I really don't fit in anywhere. I've tried to develop or participate in different hobbies, but I have very little aptitude or talent for doing anything. About the only thing I really do well is cook and eat, and now that is backfiring on me. I suffer with Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and a crazy cough I can't seem to get rid of. Needless to say, as much as I like to eat, I have no self control when it comes to it and my diet is anti diabetic. All I seem to do is sit on my fat butt and push a pencil most of the time. I've been at my job for 31 years, but I'm not even good at it. I keep trying to do the best I can because I have a wife who deals with a chronic illness and my daughter is in college. If anything, I do want to take care of my wife and get my daughter through college. I'm praying I can at least do that.

I'll probably check in and read a few post (and check my private messages as I have a couple of things going on) maybe once a month going forward just to see how everyone is doing, but Aldeer just isn't my niche (I always wanted it to be, but I finally came to the realization I just don't fit in here). Heck, I don't have a niche. I'm just one of those folks that doesn't seem to fit in very well anywhere.

We always look at ourselves with a jaundiced eye and sometimes it looks like we're not doing as good as we would like.

I will miss you if you decide to leave. If you decide against it, I will continue to enjoy your input.

Big Al is a good dude, helped me out when he didn't need to. For the record, a lot of folks don't hunt as much as the "hardcore" among us. I haven't made it out as much as I like, but there's always next season.

I haven't really been at all either (a couple of real short scouting expeditions in the late evening), but there are a lot of really good guys on here that I enjoy reading their posts when I have time to check in. Just listening to the tone of your posts I get the feeling that you may be overwhelmed, maybe even depressed with how things are going for you in regards to your health, work, relationships, etc. Just remember that the situation you are in is temporary. Your signature says it all...just trust in Him, and if you need anything from the guys on this board just let us know.

Al if you enjoy this site then don't leave it man..We all search for things in life that bring joy to us' for some it may be hunting/fishing or some other hobby/passion that we have.

I get a kick outta some of the posts and comments on here and like to give a word of advice or knowledge...God knows we need more humor in this old world because theres enough bad to worry us all to death so again don't quit something you enjoy

Brother I can promise you that I don't hunt as much as I would like too. I used to hunt a lot. But then I got married and had kids. And soon enough I found myself hunting less and less. Heck I think I've been once or twice this season thanks to my crazy work schedule and my kids. Not saying my kids are preventing me at all. Heck I would rather be home and hang out with them.

Sounds like your in a slump. We all go through slumps every now and then. The older we get seems like the harder the struggles become. Truth is, most of the guys that post on ALDEER do it for the conversation, interaction, entertainment, ex. The majority of post here are not even hunting related. Im a Hunter but 90% of my post have absolutely nothing to do with hunting. I just enjoy reading what all these "crazys" write. I love picking and harassing these nuts.

Sounds like it would do you good to jump in and harass the liberials, barners and all the other lost people on ALDEER. Who knows, someone might need your insight!

Al trust me aptitude is nice but not needed in life.None of us hunt as much as we would like to.

I didn't know this was a deer hunting forum until you told me, that's in that serious forum over yonder that I never look at. I have not been in the woods but once just to walk with my daughter and dog. I just enjoy reading and posting on all the crap over here.

Big Al I hope you are reading these posts. I'm in Florida and have hunted in Alabama for 30 plus years. I don't personally know anyone on the forum. I'm here because these are my kind of people. The majority of the people on here are great folks. These are the kind of people you want around you when things are down. You never know who your friends are until you go through tough times. We all know what it looks like to get down sometimes. I'm a Christian and get frustrated at times because even God goes silent from time to time. Like pcamper said, most of the post on Aldeer have nothing related to hunting. You have 4600 on your post count so you have had an opinion or question about a lot of things in the past.

Hey Al, if you like this site please stay. I hunt as much as I can, but usually just get on this site to read the post. I don't post much, but get on here and read multiple times a day. I enjoy reading the post and learn a good bit from them.

You've been here since the beginning so you know this isn't really a hunting page.

Yeah we talk about hunting and share some pics and stories but there is a lot more talk of other topics than there is of hunting.
