What about switching from DTV to Charter? Will I regret it? I've had DTV since it started in 1994 and didn't have any other options at the time. Never saw a good reason to switch to dish. But Charter recently became available and I wanted their internet and phone service. I saved a lot by dumping my att landline and cutting way back on VZ data plan. It was basically same price to take their lowest TV plan and get all 3 services for one price.

Now I have option to dump DTV and just use Charter for everything. Biggest downside is I will lose my satellite service at camp. I've done some experimenting with using my phone as a hotspot and running the small TV off it. I think I can get by; all I really need is ability to watch college football.

Anyone wanta warn me not to do this? I think Troy will say avoid Charter, but DTV service has gotten much worse since att bought them and is likely to just get worse.

Apologies to OP for trying to hijack your thread, but I think it's about run its course anyway.

I hope they eventually get internet available to everyone rather than having to get expensive satellite net which limits usage!!

Mountain Brook is already building one as we speak but i am sure that is not grant money.

This is what I would like to do but the only internet we can get is DSL and it is not fast enough to do all that not even close.....

I have Excede satellite and the unlimited package which is 150G for a month for $120 but they no longer offer that and I was grandfathered in.

That serves me well with just running my computer needs and Roku for whatever I may watch there. But I don't really watch much tv at all.

I just use a regular antenna for the local news.

well I say unlimited and it is but for 150G it's at high speed which is super fast and I can stream anything I want with no issues except like y'all unless it's pouring rain. After the 150G they throttle you back down. I can still surf the web and maybe watch small videos.

My neighbors works fine, he's just home too often for me to be able to use it much. I would stick with Dish.

I was thinking about this the other day. There aren't any good options out there...just options. They all suck after the promotion period. I'm sure some suck less than others, but they still suck.

Thanks for all the input, sounds like I should just keep Dish until something better comes along.

I've had dish for 7 years,we have 4 TV's (wife's choice) the top 250,I have outdoor, sportsman, and pursuit, $125 a month, steep I know but,the top 200 is $10 less, and I think the 120 plus is $15 less,I'll just pay the few extra and get channels I like, direct is about same, but I think you have to get their top package to get all the hunting channels

I was thinking about making the switch from dish to direct. Read the fine print where it said $70 for the first 12 months with a 24 month agreement. Called them to see what the last 12 months would cost. $120/month. Irritates me when companies try deceiving sales tactics. No thanks!
