Well i'm back at it today. I sat yesterday out after my fall. Got to thinking if I let fear get the best of me I might give up something I really enjoyed. Sitting on an oak ridge in Blount county waiting on daylight. Good luck to everyone and please wear your harness.

JD reporting to duty. Hunting Bankhead National Forest this morning. Set up on a logging road in a hardwood bottom leading to a bedding area 200 yards away. Rough hunting this time of year in this area. Good luck y'all.

Back after them on Black Warrior this afternoon. Hunting a green field with a few fresh tracks since the rain, so I know they are close. Good luck y'all.

I'm really curious what kind of tree that is your sitting in? I guess it must be some kind of pine but are those green ferns on the ground? Just looks like a lot of green for January?

I call them spruce pines, but it's not spruce pine. I don't know what the tree is maybe a hemlock. Bankhead is covered up with them.

The blobs of green on the ground is everywhere in Bankhead also. It looks just blades of grass bunched up, but the deer don't eat it. I think they bud out certain time of year and the turkey eat the buds.

Yes, those are Eastern Hemlocks, JD. We have quite a few of them on our property in western Winston County. They make for good cover thumbup

Yep beat me to it, Eastern Hemlock. See tons of them over in the Smokies and Blue Ridge mountains.

I would say "pics or it didn't happen" but I pulled it up the mountain so I know it happened.
