I had a great hunt yesterday afternoon. I hunted a lock-on on the edge of a plot that I've stayed out of all year. It didn't start coming up good until the middle of December so I just decided to stay out of there and wait for a good afternoon. I had planned to hunt yesterday afternoon with a friend but needed to pickup some deer meat from the processor in Shorter so I decided to stay and hunt down in Macon County. The conditions were almost perfect yesterday, upper 30's with a light north wind. I started seeing some deer a little after 3 and at 4:15 this buck walked in the field behind a group of 5 does. The does actually fed out of bow range but thankfully the buck decided to walk by me at 15 yards just as I had hoped. I made a good shot from the steep angle I was shooting (25 feet up) and could see blood spraying as he ran out of the field. I thought I heard some crashing but didn't know for sure. I had more does come into the field while I was waiting to calm my nerves so I ended up sitting until almost 5 and finally had to run deer a few deer out of the field to come down. Once I got down and started following the blood I knew he couldn't have gone too far. I checked my camera on this field midday Saturday and had this buck on a scrape at 5:33, not long after dark. I knew what deer it was as soon as I saw him. I had several pictures of him last year with exactly the same rack. He did break off his right G3 recently. Both years I had this buck before bow season and then he did not show up again until January. NAP Killzone broadheads work! That's my 5th deer to kill with them and I've been very happy with the results. September 2016 1-4-17 1-30-16 Last season 2-7-16 Last season
