Well, the interview at Stennis went well the other day, and they offered me the job on the spot, contingent upon a few various things. The chances of it working out are probably low, but just in case I'm doing my due diligence. The fiance would rather live in the Gulfport area versus Slidell, so I'm doing my research. It seems like a decent area from the few times I've been through there. Anyone have any pros or cons?

Depends on which part of Gulfport. Some areas are kind of dark. The northern part is better than the southern part.

Yes....a lot of good neighborhoods up north of I10 on hwy 49. Couple of guys on here from Gulfport, maybe they will chime in some specifics.

Look into picayune. Just out the north gate of stennis. If interested, give me a call I can give you some info. Sold a house just north of there to move to Alabama 3 years ago.

I don't know about the housing situation, but man I want to congratulate you on a good interview and the job offer. That's impressive as all get out. Thanks buddy. Like I said, the chances of it working are pretty low due to circumstances, but I know that if the Lord's will is for me to take this job, He's going to make it work. I'm constantly amazed and even a little intimidated by the brainpower and cross section of heavy hitter education and technical fields represented on this little website.

I wouldn't mind living in a more rural area, but the problem with that is the fiance finding a job. Her degree is in public relations/event planning/marketing so in order to find a job in her field, a higher population area is needed. She would probably work in Biloxi if we lived in Gulfport.

South, I am 12 miles north Of Vancleave. Its rural but not to far and Vancleave has a great school. Some good areas around, I'm just not much on being to close to anyone. We have 40 acres and love our area. PM me if you need any info. Thanks man. Vancleave is a tad too far for me. Anyone have any experiences of living in Slidell versus Gulfport? I wouldn't mind living in Diamondhead.

I grew up in Ocean Springs. It has definitely changed. My grandmother still lives in Gulfport.
I would look west. Especially if you are working a Stennis. It is pretty dang close to Louisiana.
One thing is for certain, your deer hunting is about to change. Different world down there. Hard hunting and deer are smallish. You definitely need to learn how to fish for speckled trout and go gigging flounder Grew up in Mobile, and that's second nature to me. I would most likely not hunt super close to the house, but that's the least of my worries right now.
