All you fellas that hunt the refuge, seeing any rutting activity yet? Found a few scrapes here and there, nothing serious yet it seems though.

I've seen a few rubs. Nothing major yet. Also still been seeing the spikes sticking together. Plus haven't seen any chasing. You North side or South side mainly?

I hunt both side sides pretty consistently. Same here small buck a sticking together I've seen. I figure it should be kicking up soon though.

I'd agree. I hunt primarily North side. I have seen a lot more movement lately. Would of loved to of been out there this morning with this cold snap.

Yeah I hunt north side a lot more than south side myself but I've seen em good both sides. Past couple trips have been a bust. Been seeing a few just haven't connected. Friend got busted on a small 6 trying to make a scrape.

South side will start up a week or two before most of the North.

Last year I did not run into a single person, this year 7 new people.
Anyways, I have seen young bucks chasing and I had a guy spook 3.5 year old with a doe in my direction. I believe he was tending her. I let him walk, I am after his big brother.

I saw a doe running hard out, I thought I moved, smelled me or another hunter. 20 second later, spikewas on her trail. 15 minutes later, little basket rack nose down following the trial.

I saw 10 the other evening. No rutting activity just a lot of heavy feeding. 2 bucks and the rest were does.

It was a bust this morning for me. My first trip out there this year and I was surprised at how many folks were still hunting out there.

I have only been out a couple times this year and haven't seen anything but there were more than usual.
