I bought a used truck toolbox without a key. How do I go about replacing it. Do I need to replace the whole lock? Surely one of you guys have had to do this before.

Replace the lock...they're cheap.

Go to UWS website, get their number and give them a call. I had one that wasn't working correctly on a box I'd had about a year. Nice young lady sent me a new lock with keys free.

If you lock it, somebody will just tear it up to get inside.

There are only a few key numbers.Mine opens about 50 % of them

If that doesn't work you can buy the whole brand new locking mechanism. It's held in by rivets. Just drill them out then rivet in the new one

Depending on what kind it is, a new lock/key is between $5 and $12.

Got a box on my work truck and bought a used truck with a box. No matter which key I use I can open or lock either box.

Look at the number on the outside of the lock. Call truck supply store and ask...very good chance that they can get it replaced same day.

My better built quantum box i have on my truck i lost the keys for called better built 13 dollars for a single key plus shipping total of 19 dollars or 20 dollars at the local lock smith for new locks with 4 new keys. My UWS box they just made a key at the local lock smith for 5 dollars
