Like everyone else, my greenfields are starting to come up from he rains...I'm in Montgomery Co. Deer are pounding my greenfields, eating them down to nothing. Anything I can do to prevent this? I'm assuming not....Hell, they aren't even giving them a chance to come up good...

You can get electric fence but I'm pretty sure you want them using them this time of year. Why do you want to keep them out? Milorginite would be good this time of year as fert and deterrent.

Just was hoping for them to grow a little before they mowed them down to the dirt....

On a more serious note, I am a big fan of milorganite.

Kill 'em! grin

We were on the edge of Eternia, when the power of Greyskull began to take hold.

A spray of a few eggs mixed in per gallon of water will keep them off until the next rain. A lot of trouble and the coons and possum rolling around on them may do more damage than the deer.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

we throw ammonia nitrate out in late December. Quick growth and sweetens it a bit. Haven't tried malorganite. Doesn't that stink?

Yeah, it's that stink that keeps deer off the fields for 2-3 weeks. It's sold as a slow release fertilizer, but I never factor it into fertilization calculations.

as much rain as we get in the winter i'd bet it would keep them off the fields for a week or two.
ammonia nitrate and milorganite would flat green it up and make it take off though. should still be fine by first of Jan and through the end of the season.
