As some know yesterday I randomly decided to purchase a Savage 210 12Gauge slug gun. It's wearing a simple Leupold VXI 3-9X40.

To be honest I really do not know much about slug guns and would like some insight.

What is acceptable accuracy? 2MOA?
Are 210s finicky about barrel cleanliness?
Is an Otis pull through system sufficient for barrel cleaning?
Can non sabot slugs like a Foster 1oz lead slug be fired? (Was thinking for range fun and cheaper practice.)

If you do a Google search for "Dave Henderson Slug Gun" you may find some great info. Dave's a diehard slugger and has put thousands of rounds through all kinds of stock and custom guns.

EDIT -- Actually, just buy Dave's book if it's available. I'd forgotten about it and it's a wonderful resource.

wmd on here is the most knowledgeable slug gun guy I know. He's done a LOT of homework on this subject and knows his stuff. I learned a lot from him.

I messaged WMD asking him to reply.
I can stand to use some expertise.

I bought a Savage 220 20 gauge earlier this year. Would not group worth a damn with any of the rounds I tried. Sent it back with a note. They replaced the barrel and it now shoots 1" groups at 100 yards. You have to shoot the recommended round or it wont ever group. Savage recommends the Remington 3" AccuTip slugs. They say anything else wont group and I agree!! Went through a bunch of ammo to figure this out. Love the gun!

I think I would be happier with a 20gauge either 220 or H&R.
I will see how the recoil is and how it does at the range and then decide what to do.
