Planted Monday before the rain :-) limed in August. I normally 13-13-13 when I plant or after it comes up but this year is a different deal. What are yall doing regarding fertilization? I hate to spend the $$$ on fertilizer for whats left of the season 13-13-13, nitro only, or just wait and see how they look. I can tell yall this, I walked one of my plots today and ive never seen so many tracks. On stand observation is does eating seed and dirt like its corn.

There is a soil temperature when Nitrogen either is trapped by the soil or is not taken up by the plants. I don't know which it is. One of our row crop specialists can answer that.

I normally put out Triple 17 but I planted Tuesday and put out only Ammonium Nitrate, instead of a blend. I know it won't be used as much it would have been earlier with rain but I wanted it to be there if it could be used.

I put out 100# of 15-5-10 on 1 acre today. I will wait a week or so and put out 50# of ammonia per acre in a week or two to kick in gear.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Big mistake not to fertilize in my opinion. Cool as it is, they're going to need all the help they can get to stimulate growth, not to mention the deer will seek fertilized over unfertilized plots. Plus, the deer need feed in late winter and early spring before green up. There's more to it than just a place to whack some critters

We fertilized as normal and added some extra nitrogen to get it going. They are going to need something to eat in Feb. and early march.
