The arrow being broken off is promising but that’s still a little iffy if you’ve been 400- 500 yards. You just gotta hope that it penetrated enough to get through the shoulder plate and into the body cavity. What county are you in? Are you remotely close to me?

Ok, time to be serious. That is one heck of a buck... have you got a dog headed your way first thing in the morning? I sure hope so. Get that dog in there, get out of his and his handler's way, and let that dog do his thing. I would think if you got 8" into the shoulder, then the broadhead should be deep enough to get into one of his lungs. Hopefully he will lay overnight and die. Now for the bad part... if you get a dog and you track through 3 or more bed down areas after the point where your 500 yard track ended, then you probably ain't gonna find him. Hoping for the best!

Don’t write it off just yet. If he can get someone out there this afternoon then you never know. It’s really pushing it to try to track one that old……. but if Ammon is coming out, he has a good dog that would have as good of a chance of finding it as any. It could just be 50-100 yards past where he lost blood. Good luck!
