How many of you fellas will still be climbing a tree with the stick and string? I'm just curious. This is the first year I am considering not going to private land with a gun and going to a public land spot with my bow on the day of the gun opener.

I'm trying my hardest to make the transition to mostly archery. Have not had the blessing of harvesting a deer yet with a bow, but I'm going to give it my best shot this deer season.

I've just gotten tired of the same old routine that I've been in for 10+ deer seasons of only hitting the woods a couple times with my bow as a way to kill time before gun season. Some of it is just being tired of hunting the way 90% of Alabama hunters do anyhow.

I got several tracking calls last year from folks bow hunting during gun season. I was surprised to see how many folks kept hunting with a bow. It would be awesome for a piece of property to be bow only.

Thinking about bowhunting some more as the early season, heat and all, has been a bust and no food plots. So, if I am going to hunt in woods at a few of my spots; might as well try to get a bow buck.

I just know for me personally, as I've studied it, the amount and quality of public hunting land I have near me vs. the amount and quality of private land I have access to hunt, it now makes more sense to me to spend more time bow hunting public land.

Stick bow only for me through the season, every season.

Bow hunting is addicting, when I have plenty of time to go I prefer it over a gun. When the rut starts I will put it down.

I'm planning on switching to gun until I get a deer or two, then I will pick it back up. I am determined to get my first bow kill this year.

I will do both the rest of the year. Usually take my bow in the woods where I can only see far enough for a bow shot anyways, but will bust out the rifle for a clear cut or large foodplot.

If it's either sex season, I think you can legally take both.
I'm gonna gun hunt Thanksgiving week, Christmas week and last 3 weeks of season. Gonna tote bow or ML pistol or both rest of the time.

I think so too, but no way I am carrying that much weight with me.

Yeah. Guys I know who do it say it's a PIA. They usually got stands pre-set. My ML pistol fits inside my backpack and I'm gonna tote my recurve that weighs nothing when I do it.
