I'm getting ready myself. Headed to some white oaks that are dropping pretty good. I've been passing up does but that's going to change if I see them today...

I got settled in the stand late due to it being 13 degrees warmer. I sweated a little more and had to slow down. Got settled at 0520 hours. 0525 a deer walks 15 yards from me. I saw his out line and he was super loud. 0530 a second deer, he took my 40 yard trail and cut up a thick piece and got within 15 yards on my right. Never saw his outline, but he was loud! That's one positive thing about this drought. I haven't had any trouble hearing deer walking

I'm here. Carried the recurve for 1st time this year. Sure would be nice to get a 12-15 yd shot. The sound of bass boats skipping across the water carries and I wonder if I should be doing somthing else.
PS it's so dry the privet has dried up in this thicket.
Long range forecast on my phone shows rain for... Opening day of gun season

Set up in a big creek bottom between a 3 year old planted clearcut and a plot that's surrounded by thick pines. Saw some does in here yesterday morning but didn't get a shot. Hoping they come back this morning.

This was weird. Got a text wife was making egg sandwiches. So I climbed down but walked out a different way to check another trail. I could tell critters had walked it. I popped out in the lane, heard something running behind me and this little deer pops out right behind me. I think he heard me walking and thought I was another deer. He followed me out. He got one look at me, gave a quick blow and went back way he came.

First time hunting core land. Already set up for this evening. Will keep track on the Bama game for now. Missed an armadillo twice at 20 yards. Then he came right under my tree. I need a bigger quiver and a deer to behave like that.

Should be doing what Joe's doing ^^^^ Strong midday movement according to the moon chart. Had no service this morning, so couldn't check in. Saw 6 longbeards and spotted fawn. Jumped deer under my white oaks when I walked in before daylight. Oddly enough, I was in Calhoun Co, but I had strong smoke smell all morning???!!! LOL Don't know if it will show up in this picture, but can you see this trail in front of me? There must be 1000 tracks in it, no exaggeration, it is dusty with tracks!!

LOL, just about! To both the left and right is crazy thick pine ridges (sage, briars, etc). This bottom is about 100 yards wide and there are big white oaks all over it, poop everywhere you step.

Well turd, I cut the hair off a doe's back this evening. About 4:50 deer just started flooding in, and I mean from 3 directions at once. Back in the same tree from this morning... started hearing steps and limbs popping coming out of the thick pine ridges on both sides, suckers took forever to come out into the oak flat. Most of them angled too far out in front of me, but one big horse-head doe turned and started to me. By the time she got to me it was right at 5:00, so it was really dim light. She was about 20 yards, and when I released I saw my Lumenock "dart" just a slight bit and the arrow hit her glancing off the back...guess I hit a limb. Didn't hear it hit, but the arrow certainly deflected. She bounced right in behind me and immediately started licking at her back. Before I could get knocked again she spooked off. Oh well, I got all the fun out of it anyway, at least I didn't have to fool with a deer tonight! LOL
